I like to spend a little time each day browsing through Entrecard sites by following the links from the widget. Some call it chain dropping but for me it’s an easy way to get a good glimpse into the world of my fellow Entrecardians (copyright pending…) By doing this, I have learned a couple of things about Entrecard that I didn’t know (perhaps I should have read the terms a bit better when I signed up)
Apparently there are two basic rules that I need to follow to be a card carrying contributing member of the Entrecard community.
I need to post about Entrecard a lot.
This is my second post and I hope that’s enough really. I think this is pretty much going to cover it for a while.
I need to have a contest.
This seems to be really, really important as everyone is doing it. I guess I need to create a contest, and then make it so that a condition of winning is that people need to subscribe to me. Or even better they need to write a post on their blogs about my contest with a link back to me.
It seems that this works to grow my linkbacks which causes an increase in my Technical(?) ranking and then if I am really lucky someone from Google will come by and rank my site.
I have to admit I’m not sure how any of this helps you, the reader, but I get the impression that my site is worthless to anyone without it, so I guess I need to do this kind of thing if I want to be "successful."
So I’m going to run a contest – but I have decided to change the rules a little, you know think outside the box a bit:
So here it is, My Huge Entrecard Contest!!! (note the 3 exclamation points – that implies that it is indeed pretty huge!!!)
Once a week I will give someone 100 credits. I know it’s not a lot compared to some other contests but I don’t usually have too many and I want to make sure that I always have enough to follow through on this.
Here is what you need to do to enter:
Step 1 – Be a member of Entrecard
I guess this is a given as Entrecard credits don’t really have any value, err I mean that the credits don’t really have any value to a non-Entrecard user. I hate to be exclusionary but I’m not sure how to work around this.
Step 2 – You don’t need to subscribe.
I mean you can if you want, but you don’t have to. I think I’ve made it pretty easy to do, but if you aren’t interested enough to do it otherwise, I’m not sure what benefit either of us will get if you do it anyway.
Step 3 – You don’t need to write a post on your site and link here.
I can’t imagine your readers are all that interested enough in my contest that it’s worth mentioning it to them. I mean, if they’re Entrecard users they might see it anyway, and if they aren’t they’ll just stare blankly at your post wondering what it is that you’re blabbering on about.
How I choose the winner:
Every Friday (at an undisclosed time) I am going to choose the top post in the Entrecard Introductions Forum and then give the credits to the person who is advertising on the site of the person who started that thread.
So there you have it – The biggest hugest Entrecard Contest ever. Good Luck.

As an aside, I really am enjoying Entrecard because of some of the wonderful blogs that I am finding through it. I’ve added links to some of my favorites over to the right, take a moment to browse through them, you won’t be sorry.

The First Rule of EntreCard-You Have to Write About EntreCard
The Second Rule of Entrecard-You have to Write About EntreCard
The Third Rule of EntreCard-You Have to have a Contest About EntreCrad, with links, subscriptions, and Techonrati Favorites-well, I haven’t really seen the last one, but it is only a matter of time.
I have noticed that all the Big Dogs on EntreCard write about EntreCard, like, all the time. I have written two posts on Entrecard and that was at least one post too many.
But it is fun to find the odd interesting blog among the sea of all the blogs that make you go-why are you writing this?
What number is “What happens at fight club, err Entrecard, stays at Entrecard”
I visited your blog and I’ve bookmarked / subscribed to it. At first glance I have a feeling I could get lost there for a while.
Thanks for comment

Nice idea for contest. I have another idea. Why not take a picture of your poo and send it to me to put on Mister Poo.
It will create, we hope, some viral poo-widget.
One day everyone will wish to see the results of our inputs.
or our outputs..
Thanks for visiting
That is indeed HUGE – I’m in with a chance, then, since I don’t write in the forums and spend all my ecs on ads… Thanks!
Thanks for recognizing the hugeness of this contest. You are indeed in the running – Good Luck!!!
(note the three exclamation points, that seems to be a new thing for me)

I love it! ANd nice blog by the way! Rachel
Hi Rachel,
Thanks for the visit and the kind words.
SB
Hilarious!
Thanks Deb,
Despite my sarcasm, I am loving the “real” blogs I am finding on Entrecard – like yours.

Yanno, Scott, I think I signed up when you first wrote about it. Um…I haven’t exactly done anything with it yet, though, because I sorta forgot about it. Darn. But that poo widget thingy would most likely go over well at our house. Unfortunately!!!
Contests are always a good way to boost readership!
I’m not a member of Entrecard yet, considering it though… but hey, at least I discovered your blog through them!
It’s actually kind of refreshing to see this kind of contest. Most of them are subscribe to me, blog 300 words about me, join my newsletter, and name your first kid after me. That last one is…uh…made up but you see my point lol.
Absolutely – that’s why I wanted to do something different.
And the naming of the first kid thing isn’t going to help anyone’s page rank or I’m sure they would add that as well.
Thanks for the visit and the comment.

Great contest!!! (note the three exclamation marks).
I’m a lousy Entrecardian (Entrecarder?) since I’ve broken both rules.
Lis – I blame you for my Entrecard involvement, it was your post that prompted me to sign up.
Despite my cynicism, I really like that I have found so many great reads through it.
And I announced my first winner – Million Dollar Journey has been sent his 100 credits.
