Warm Songs

thermometerIt’s cold here. Really cold. -4 F or -21 F wind chill. I’m currently on the couch in sweats, under a homemade afghan, stealing warmth from a couple of cats, sitting near a space heater, enjoying a wonderful mug of cocoa, and the chill is still in my bones.

Earlier today, my wife wrote about how she is thinking about warmer things like cooking to combat the cold. My brain goes to other things – like music.

So here, in an attempt to trick my head into thinking that I’m not really freezing, are some songs about various things hot:

  • Heat Wave – Martha & The Vandellas
  • Hot ‘Lanta – The Allman Brothers
  • Hot Hot Hot – Buster Poindexter (aka David Johansen)
  • Hot Fun in the Summertime – Sly & the Family Stone
  • In the Summertime – Mungo Jerry
  • White Light / White Heat – The Velvet Underground
  • Hotter Than Hell – Kiss
  • Summer in the City – The Lovin’ Spoonful
  • Hot Stuff – The Rolling Stones
  • Sun Dance – Gov’t Mule

Nope – didn’t work. I’m still cold.

Cheers
SB

References scattered around the site indicate interesting tastes in music, and I particularly like the Zappa blurb that music is the BEST… ain’t that the truth. I’m just listening to Jeff Buckley warble Hallelujah… I’ve always adored Tim — Dolphins is a BIG fave — but started to listen to Jeff’s work only recently, what a treat. Peace;-D

Interesting is just about the only word I can use to describe my musical tastes as well… That Zappa quote is my fave, is here and on the wall of my office. He is missed.

Thanks for the visit and the comment.

GET OUT OF HERE! Upside down cats is your WIFE?!

You have blown my mind. I can’t even comment on today’s post because my mind is on the floor, blown out of my cranial cavity.

    • Scott says:

We are indeed the blogging duo. Are you blown away good (like – wow, they are such a great couple) or blown away bad (like – what is she doing with that loser…)

And do I have to help clean up the mess?

No, in a very good way, Scott. I just have never met a married blogging duo where I knew both of them BEFORE I knew they were married.

    Very fun.

I have my paper towel and 409 spray bottle ready to clean up the mess. Sorry about that. And it looks like Elle is here to help me clean up my mess as well.
