It's late, but it's here - the next in our
ongoing series of BYOBO compilations. This time we are featuring one of my favorite songwriters, the amazingly insightful and talented Jackson Browne.
So once again inspired by Nat at
Mini-Obs, the idea is the same as always:
Pick one of your favorite bands / artists and list 10-15 songs by that band / artist to compile your own best of compilation.
So here goes -
The Best of Jackson Browne as compiled by me:
- Call It A Loan - Hold Out
- Chasing You Into The Light - World In Motion
- Cocaine - Running On Empty
- For A Dancer - Late For The Sky
- Hold On Hold Out - Hold Out
- Late For The Sky - Late For The Sky
- Love Needs A Heart - Running On Empty
- My Stunning Mystery Companion - The Naked Ride Home
- The Pretender - The Pretender
- Ready Or Not - For Everyman
- Rock Me On The Water - Saturate Before Using
- The Road - Running On Empty
- Rosie - Running On Empty
- Sleep's Dark And Silent Gate - The Pretender
- These Days - For Everyman
Jackson Browne has such a tremendous ability to convey so much feeling in his lyrics and to really connect with a listener on such a personal level. I've had the pleasure to see him live a couple of times and am always amazed at the connection that he makes with the audience. Some of these on the list rate among my very favorite songs of all time.
I particularly recommend his 2 Solo Acoustic volumes which have come out the last couple of years - they really do a great job of presenting just how amazing these songs are.
Enjoy!
Cheers!

Another one of my favorites here, and I think I can't disagree on any one of these. I'd have to have "Take It Easy," "In The Shape Of A Heart," "The Night Inside Me," and an old fave featured in "Fast Times At Ridgemont High," "Somebody's Baby."
The Solo Acoustics are, indeed, superb.
I guess it takes the power of the internet to bring out those of us with impeccable musical tastes.
I actually should have "In The Shape Of A Heart" on the list, has always been a fave. Have never been a huge fan of "Take it Easy" but I certainly like his original better than the lame-o Eagles version.
Hmm, The Eagles - that could be an interesting list...
Thanks as always for the comments - they are appreciated.

Yes, the Eagles would be an interesting place to go.
Even with the attractive female artists, a pretty picture on the cover wasn't enough to get me to listen to an artist.
I think most might be disappointed with an Eagles compilation of mine. I tend not to like them so my picks would be pretty obscure - probably more so than just about any other artist, except maybe for Elton John. I really am an unbelievably closed minded musical snob...
Upcoming lists will feature (in no particular order):
Van Morrison
REM
Elvis Costello
Chicago
The Kinks
Marillion
and more... so stay tuned

(My first concert...Sonny & Cher. No lie.)
My first concert was Billy Joel, first unchaperoned was Roger Waters. I did see Jethro Tull sans family but they did have to drive me so that doesn't really count.

Fun idea, though - I want to do this on my forum now. Have a great day.
I'm really enjoying putting these together - I'm curious to see what others do with the idea.
Thanks for the visit and the comment.
