New Music Wednesday - The Weepies

I meant to post this yesterday on release day, but am just now getting around to listening to the new Weepies release Hideaway. I've been looking forward to it since I first heard Say I Am You back in February of '07 so was psyched to see it available on Yahoo this morning.

You may not know that you know of The Weepies, but you likely do. I guess they were featured on Grey's Anatomy as well as in a JC Penny commercial.

I'm about 1/2 way through and so far it's just brilliant. Once again the harmonies are just amazing and the songs are really strong. I obviously need to hear the whole thing a couple of times first but this is my first real contender for best LP of '08.

I'm picking it up on Tues when I go in to work, since I was away last week. Can't WAIT to hear it!!! I love Deb's voice, and I love the lyrical content. Hey, I got the first cd free as a promo, so I am going to check the boss's office to see if she's got this one, too! (job perk!)

I'm giving it another listen now and you know, it just feels like home, like I've heard it 1000 times already. Nice.

I saw that someone from their label dropped by here after I published this but left no comments, and so far the CD hasn't just appeared in my mailbox.
