Or why I once again hate WordPress.
I don't mean to go off on a rant here but...
I hate, hate, hate the new Admin Area / Dashboard for WordPress 2.7
Here is just one example:
When I submit my articles to Web Worker Daily we put them in a pending review status so our editor can, um, review them, and then schedule when they should be published.
In the old system, there was a nice little drop down box and I could just choose pending review and then save it. Like this:

It was really easy.
But now in 2.7 I get this. Where is my drop down? How do I change the status? Oh - let me click edit.

Ok, after some ajaxy refresh (ooh - pretty!) the drop down appears and I can change the status from Draft to Pending Review.

Guess I need to hit OK now to save that. Ooh - more pretty ajaxy things to hide the drop down again.

Yep - now the status is changed and I can click save as pending so it can be reviewed. Note where the Save as Pending button is. It used to be right next to publish but for some reason now it is above the status.
Oh, and what is right where the Save button used to be? Yep - Delete. I haven't done it yet, but I am sure someone must have.
So now instead of just adjusting the drop down and a one click save, I now have to click, wait, change the drop down, click again, wait, and then save.
What did this improve?
I know it's only a couple of clicks but I have to do this for every post I submit, and for the life of me I can't figure out why this would be better.
Thoughtful changes are certainly appreciated, but this seems like change for the sake of change, or perhaps the chance to add some shiny baubles to the interface.
Shiny Baubles (wait, isn't that a Don Ho song?) at the expense of functionality - that's pretty much all I see in 2.7 so far.
Have you used it yet? What do you think?
Shiny Baubles
in the wine
make me happy
make me feel fine
Don Ho (lyrics by Leon Pober but slightly modified by me)

Good luck with it!
